Acclaimed for her “mysterious and fascinating charisma” (American Record Guide) and “captivating fantasy and freshness” (The Strad), Maya Levy is a winner of numerous prestigious awards, such as the 1st Prize of the ‘Médias Francophones Publics 2020’, a ‘Silver Medal’ at the Manhattan International Music Competition, “Supernova” prize at the Klara Festival, title of a laureate at the Karol Szymanowski Competition in 2018 and the ‘International Karol Lipinski Violin Competition 2019’, where she got the ‘Beethoven Prize’ for the best interpretation of the sonata. 

She has collaborated with many prominent conductors and orchestras, including The Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, L’Orchestre Symphonique de Namur, The Chamber Orchestra of Waterloo, The Chamber Orchestra of Mechelen, Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Prima la Musica Orchestra, Artès Chamber Orchestra, Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia and Mitteldeutsche Kammerphilharmonie…

Next season begins with a Belgian tour of Shostakovitch violin concerto and brings her to Berlin Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus for recital debuts and Shanghai, Pekin among others as part of a tour of fifteen concerts in China.

The violinist is a regular guest at International Festivals such as ‘Piano Salon Christophori’ (Berlin), Les Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad (Switzerland), Podium Jonge Musici, Les sommets du Classique (Switzerland), ‘La Ballade Musicale à Rixensart’, Festival Musical de Lasne, Musicales en Côte Chalonnaise (France), L’été Mosan Festival, Klarafestival, Festival Musiq’3… Most recently Maya has been on tour in Belgium with Sibelius’s Violin Concerto and she has given her recital debuts in Berlin and Vilnius.

Since 2013, Maya Levy and the pianist Matthieu Idmtal are invited to play recitals in Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland and Russia. The label “Pavane Records” has released Maya Levy’s debut CD in 2016. For this CD Maya and Matthieu have recorded the complete violin sonatas by Edvard Grieg ( Classica Magazine, La Libre Belgique, Klara’s top 10, “An Intoxicating exhilarating recording of lesser-known Grieg” – The Strad Magazine).

Maya Levy is a dedicated chamber musician and, among other chamber music activities, she has been the violinist of the “Trio Carlo Van Neste” (Karin Lechner (piano) and Alexandre Debrus (cello)) since 2014. The trio recently made an acclaimed CD-recording of Felix Mendelssohn’s two Piano Trios, also for the label “Pavane Records”.

Born in 1997 to French and Belgian parents, Maya Levy started playing violin at the age of 4 under the guidance of Bernadette Jansen. Later on she has continued her studies with Igor Tkatchouk and from 2013 with the highly respected Russian pedagogue Boris Kuschnir in Vienna. Additionally, the violinist has attended masterclasses of many renowned teachers such as Augustin Dumay, Pavel Vernikov, Itamar Golan, Renaud Capuçon, Miriam Fried, Sergey Khachatryan, Andrey Baranov and Leonidas Kavakos.
