Born in 1997 as the child of a Belgian mother and a French father, Maya Levy starts playing the violin at the age of 4 under the guidance of Bernadette Jansen. Later on she continues her studies with Igor Tkatchouk. Since 2013, she’s working together with Mr. Boris Kuschnir, in Vienna.

Maya Levy has won numerous awards in international competitions, such as the competition FLAME in Paris, Competition Grumiaux, Stokholm Music Competition, Belfius Classics competition, Oistrakh International Violin Competition in Moscow (semifinalist),…

Next to her successes in competitions, she was lucky to have the possibility to attend various master classes with renowned teachers such as Augustin Dumay, Pavel Vernikov, Itamar Golan, Nikita Boriso-Glebsky, Hrachya Avanesyan, Håkon Austbø, Renaud Capuçon, Miriam Fried, Aleksei Semenenko and Leonidas Kavakos.

Maya is regulary asked to perform in music festivals, and in that way she made already an appearance at festivals such as Podium Jonge Musici, Jugend Musiziert (Germany), Les sommets du Classique (Switzerland), Festival Musical de Lasne, Musicales en Côte Chalonnaise (France), L’été Mosan Festival, Les Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad (Switzerland), Klarafestival, Festival Musiq’3,…

Maya Levy collaborated with major conductors and was accompanied by orchestras such as The Chamber Orchestra of Waterloo, L’Orchestre Symphonique de Namur, The Chamber Orchestra of Mechelen, Prima la Musica Orchestra,  Artès Chamber Orchestra, Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, Mitteldeutsche Kammerphilharmonie… She performed in venues such as Studio 4 & Studio 1, in Flagey, De Bijloke in Ghent, The Capitol in Ghent, the Vlaams Opera in Gent, De Singel in Antwerp, Arenberg in Antwerp, the Royal Theater of La Monnaie, The Philharmonie in Liège, the Teatro dell Aquila in Italy, Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory Tchaikosvky in Moscow, the Recanati Hall in Tel Aviv.

Since 2013, Maya Levy and pianist Matthieu Idmtal form a duo, and perform on a regular base. Last seasons, they have been invited to play in countries such as Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain, Nederlands, Switzerland, Russia.
At the end of 2016 they recorded their first recording devoted to the complete violin sonatas of Edvard Grieg under the label « Pavane » Records ». ( *** Classica Magazine, **** La Libre Belgique, Klara’s top 10, “An Intoxicating exhilarating recording of lesser-known Grieg” – The Strad Magazine).

Maya is the violinist of the « Trio Carlo Van Neste » composed of Karin Lechner (pianist) and Alexandre Debrus (cellist). The trio recently made an acclaimed CD-recording of Felix Mendelssohn’s two piano trio’s, for the label ‘Pavane Records.’
